Project

The project aimed to streamline the booking journey, clarify package options, and ensure users felt confident and informed when choosing a photographer in a high-traffic environment. On the photographer side, the goal was to simplify their workflow and support them in delivering fast, consistent, high-quality experiences. Working across web and mobile touchpoints, my role involved understanding user behavior in fast-moving tourist contexts, identifying pain points, and designing intuitive flows that made spontaneous photoshoots effortless and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Customers find it difficult to compare photographers or understand availability in busy tourist locations, leading to slower decisions and lost booking opportunities. At the same time photographers struggle to manage bookings efficiently due to unclear workflows and limited visibility into customer details, impacting their ability to deliver consistent experiences.

I conducted a combination of qualitative and quantitative research across both sides of the marketplace (potential clients and photographers) to understand how each group interacts with Smiler and where there are key usability gaps or unmet expectations.

  • Sketched user flows and low-fidelity wireframes to explore early concepts and align with stakeholders.

  • Built interactive prototypes to quickly validate assumptions and test clarity around booking, packages, and photographer selection.

  • Conducted iterative usability testing to refine the overall user experience, information hierarchy, and decision-making flows.

  • Developed high-fidelity UI focused on simplifying the booking experience and streamlining the photographer workflow.

  • Created a lightweight design system to ensure consistency across web and mobile interfaces.

  • Collaborated closely with engineering for implementation, feasibility checks, and polishing edge cases pre-launch.
